Pakistan enjoys incredible potential for skiing and snowboarding, but the country’s only modern ski resort Malam Jabba has been destroyed in internal political strife. The reconstruction efforts have been under way in 2013.

Malam Jabba is located in Swat Valley. The nearest airport is at Saidu Sharif 51km (32 miles) away.

The ski resort was developed in cooperation with Austrian government. It featured modern accommodations and amenities, including an ice skating rink. The top of the resort reaches altitude of 2804m (9200 feet).

The former Soviet republic of Kyrgyzstan is often referred to as “the Switzerland of Asia” for a good reason. Over 80% of the country is covered with high mountains belonging to the Tian Shan range.

Kyrgyzstan is the land of geographic extremes with climate ranging from near arctic temperatures and heavy snowfall to hot subtropical inland valleys. The highest peak is Jengish Chokusu, at 7,439 m (24,400 feet).

In spite of excellent winter conditions the ski industry in Kyrgyzstan is not developed to the full potential. There are fewer than ten ski resorts, most of them centered around the capital Bishkek. Oruu-Saiis the largest ski area located in the vicinity of the capital. All of the resorts offer only basic infrastructure.

Heli-skiing and mountain tours attract a good number of foreign skiers and snowboarders to Kyrgyzstan each winter.
